InsurTech weekly - From the front to the back how tech is driving new paradigm shifts

Why insurers struggle to modernize aging IT systems, how Revolut's ATM rollout reveals a localized growth strategy, and what it really takes to build a successful AI-first company.

1/ Insurers' IT systems: impossible to modernize?

The first article is an essay I wrote on the growing challenge insurers face with their own IT systems. As they still rely on 60+ years old core systems, they slow down both business opportunities and innovation. And I had a chat with Patrice BERNARD a consultant in IT and innovation applied to Financial Services who shared his views on the challenges surrounding modernization and change.

2/ Revolut's ATM strategy

The second article, published in Les Echos, analyzed Revolut's strategy following its introduction of ATM in the Spanish market. Beyond this add-on to its purely digital offer, LesEchos explored Revolut's roadmap and tried to explain why it is doing things in a different way across Europe, as it keeps gaining significant amounts of customers !

3/ What it takes to be an AI-first company

The third article is an essay Marjolaine CATIL and Chris O'Brian put together on AI-first companies. Following YC's call for more "full-stack AI startups", they detail how this kind of players differ from usual B2B or SaaS vendors which develop technology for incumbents. They also remind us it's more than just gaining productivity and highlight what it takes for founders to succeed with such a positioning.
