InsurTech weekly - Will AI initiate a legacy upgrade or add another layer ?

Explore Europe’s AI-first InsurTech startups, why insurers’ legacy systems block innovation, and how AI is reshaping web search, advertising, and consumer behavior.

1/ The state of AI InsurTech in Europe

The first article is an analysis I published recently on the state of AI-first InsurTech startups across Europe. Based on every deal announced in the first half of the year, I detail the dynamic in that specific part of the market and compare it to AI initiative across industries. I highlight major trends structuring that space and detail what might happen next based on the three go-to-market strategies we've observed so far across AI InsurTech in Europe.

2/ Impossible to upgrade insurers' legacy systems?

The second article is an essay I wrote on insurers' IT system. While new tech wave has often added a new layer in legacy systems, most of them have been live for 50 years or so. In that background and with AI opening a new tech paradigm, I detail how I perceived the challenge to upgrade IT systems. And I explain why, beyond daily operations, these old-fashion systems are threat to innovation, ecosystems and the customer experience.

3/ How AI is changing the web

The third article, published in The Economist, explores the impact of artificial intelligence on how consumers explore the web. It starts with a summary of recent initiatives AI-first players have kicked off to revamp the search function. It shares figures on how much consumers do leverage these features. Then it lists challenges incumbents (google, ad networks, content producers, etc) face and need to tackle in what seems to be a new paradigm.
